Terms of service
We try to be clear about what benefit does, what it doesn't, and what happens if something goes wrong. These terms are a contract — but they're also a plain-English description of how this works.
Last updated: April 21, 2026. This is a plain-language draft and not a substitute for legal advice. Questions? Email jack@getbenefit.health.
benefit is a tool that helps you understand the preventive care your existing health insurance already covers. We are not a healthcare provider. We are not an insurance company. What we show you is research, guidance, and general information — not medical, legal, or financial advice.
By using benefit, you're agreeing to the rules on this page. The rules are meant to keep both of us safe: you from unexpected surprises, us from liability for things outside our control.
You need to be at least 18 years old, or the age of legal majority where you live, to create an account. benefit is offered to residents of the United States. If you use it from outside the U.S., you're responsible for making sure that's consistent with your local laws.
You agree to provide accurate information when you sign up and to keep your account credentials reasonably secure. You're responsible for activity that happens under your account.
benefit's recommendations, coverage notes, chat responses, and everything else we show you are for informational purposes only. They are not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
Always talk to a licensed healthcare provider about decisions that affect your health. Always verify coverage with your insurer before you book or receive a service — coverage details can change, and your specific plan may differ from the general guidance we provide.
If you think you're having a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. Do not rely on benefit for emergencies.
benefit is not an insurance broker, agent, or advisor. The tracker's estimates of market value, return on premium, and progress toward your deductible are approximations based on the information you enter. Actual amounts owed, credited, or paid depend on your specific plan and the claims process.
Always confirm out-of-pocket costs, network status, and coverage eligibility with your insurance company and your provider. benefit is not responsible for bills you receive or for the difference between what we estimate and what your insurer ultimately determines.
You sign in to benefit through Google. You can delete your account at any time; when you do, we delete your profile, recommendations, tracker entries, and chat history from our database, except where we're required to keep limited records for legal or security reasons.
We may suspend or terminate an account if it's being used to harass, break the law, overload our systems, or otherwise violate these terms. We'll do our best to tell you why.
Most of benefit is free. The Pro plan unlocks additional features (for example, appointment reminders and full history) for a monthly subscription. Prices and the exact feature list are shown on the pricing page.
When you subscribe, you authorise us (through our payment processor, Stripe) to charge your chosen payment method on a recurring monthly basis until you cancel. You can cancel anytime from your account settings; your Pro features continue until the end of the billing period, and you won't be charged again.
If something goes wrong with a charge — you were double-billed, the feature didn't work, or you forgot to cancel — email jack@getbenefit.health within 30 days and we'll look into a refund. We want happy customers more than we want a disputed charge.

If you find a security issue, please tell us at jack@getbenefit.health. We're a small team and we appreciate responsible disclosure.
benefit uses large language models (currently from Anthropic) to answer your questions and to read insurance-card photos. Language models can be wrong, out of date, or confidently state things that aren't true. Treat their output as a starting point, not a final answer.
We do our best to ground the AI in your actual plan details, but we don't guarantee accuracy or that any particular response is suitable for your situation. Verify anything important with your insurer, your provider, or a licensed professional.
benefit, the name, the logo, the content we write, and the software we build are ours (benefit, Inc., and our licensors). You don't get any rights to them beyond what these terms grant.
What you submit — your profile, your tracker entries, your chat messages — stays yours. By submitting it, you give us a limited licence to host and process it so we can operate the service for you.
You're welcome to share screenshots and talk about benefit however you like. Don't claim to be us, and don't use our branding for something that would confuse people into thinking an unrelated product is affiliated with us.
benefit links to third-party services like GoodRx, Cost Plus Drugs, and individual pharmacies so you can compare prescription prices. Those sites have their own terms and privacy policies. We're not responsible for what they do, what they charge, or what they show you.
benefit is provided "as is" and "as available", without any warranty of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
We don't warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that the information it displays is always current or accurate. Coverage policies, drug prices, and clinical guidelines all change.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, benefit and our directors, employees, and contractors are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of your use of the service — even if we've been told those damages might occur.
Our total liability to you for any claim related to the service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you've paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) $100.
Some states don't allow certain limitations of liability, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold benefit harmless from claims and expenses arising out of your misuse of the service or your violation of these terms or any law.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Disputes will be resolved in state or federal court located in Delaware, unless both parties agree otherwise.
If at some point we update these terms to include arbitration or a class-action waiver, we'll give you advance notice and a chance to reject those specific provisions before they apply to you.
We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll email registered users and post a notice on the dashboard at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the service after the effective date means you accept the new terms.
