UnitedHealthcare preventive care

What UnitedHealthcare actually covers at $0.

UnitedHealthcare is the largest US health insurer by revenue, owned by UnitedHealth Group, with deep employer and Medicare Advantage presence.

Under the Affordable Care Act, every UnitedHealthcare plan covers dozens of preventive services at no cost when you use an in-network provider. Most members claim less than half of what they're entitled to — leaving roughly $600–$1500+ on the table every year.

FAQ

UnitedHealthcare preventive care, answered

How do I find an in-network preventive care doctor on UHC?

Use the UHC app or myuhc.com → Find Care → filter to Primary Care or the specific service you need. Confirm "Accepting new patients" before booking.

Does UHC Navigate require a referral for free preventive care?

For ACA preventive services with your assigned PCP — no. For preventive screenings done by a specialist (e.g. dermatology), Navigate plans typically require a PCP referral first. Choice and Choice Plus generally do not.

What if my UHC plan is through a smaller subsidiary like Oxford or AllSavers?

Same federal ACA mandate applies. Oxford (NY/NJ/CT) and AllSavers (level-funded employer plans) both cover the standard preventive services at $0 in-network.
